Never Gone!

Down the forlorn trail on my way –
As I walked away,
Emotions all swirling wild –
Deep inside my mind…

Heard I a knock on the door –
Of my heart, what for?
Looked I and saw none there,
Knew no one would dare!!

Then a charming face, you came along –
To knock and prove me wrong!!
You pushed the door aside,
And took me for a long ride…

Read my mind and knew my need,
And as I played my reed,
You sang a song to me –
Of a girl I wanna be…!

When my dreams all wished to fly-
To the skies of blue, so high;
You took me by surprise –
And made me feel so nice…!

When I thought I would fall,
You stood by like a wall –
Holding me so tight;
My angel on my right!

When I cried, when I laughed,
When I called you out aloud,
You were always near to me,
And promised you would be…!

When I messed with riddles wild-
Never gave up, like a child;
Troubled when I took a sigh,
You stayed all by my side…!

When I fought, when I frowned,
When I let my spirits drown,
You told me to hold on,
And taught me to be strong!

Miss those days, miss your words,
Miss all I’d seen and heard;
Ne’er thought that they’ll be gone;
One day I’ll be alone!! 

Frozen hands, so dark and cold-
Ripped you off my soul;
Gently closed your eyes –
And struck me off, like a dice!

Emptiness blew in, eerie loneliness;
Stood I like a stupid witness…
As it played its wicked trick –
My heart strangled, in rick!

Seasons change, reasons fade,
Memories all in grey shade;
A wish to walk past time –
To steal all what was mine…

A year’s gone, my hair is long;
Just another night and morn;
Now the wind blows feral at times –
And dries the tears in my eyes…

It makes me feel your presence here –
Your warmth and love and zeal!
And softly in my inner ear –
Your whisper all I hear:

“By your side rests my soul,
You are not alone…
‘Tis all for you that I’d sworn
And I am never gone…!!”
