Farah informed Alin About the vacancy as soon as he came home that evening.
“Shall I apply for the job,?” she asked him.
He replied that he had no objection. Alin went on to add that he had always wanted a well educated working wife. He seemed very enthusiastic in allowing her to work. Somewhere deep down inside her she felt that the real reason behind his enthusiasm was that the job would keep them apart even more than they already were. They lived under the same room hut scarcely spent time together.
She didn’t care though. Farah had to accept the reality that she was trapped in a strange, toxic marriage and the job promised to be a whiff of fresh air.
Farah called the number and was told to attend the interview. The interview turned out to be just a couple of written tests. She wrote both tests and was told that she would be intimated by phone or e-mail if she was selected for the job. What followed was the most agonizing wait of Farah’s life. It took 3 whole days for the call. Farah answered the phone with shaking hands. It was the team lead who had called to inform her that the job was indeed hers.
As she hung up, tears of joy trickled down her cheeks. Her life post marriage hadn’t been anything she had hoped for. Farah felt lonelier than ever after having tied the knot. Farah hoped this job would provide her with a bit of interim relief…..
