Stalked: Chapter 7

Awana was feeling exhausted. It had been a long and hard day at work. It seemed to her like Amaan was bent on making her work just as hard as he did, the workaholic that he was. She wasn’t sure if the same treatment was meted out to other members of her team. At the end of the day, all employees were provided with a free meal which saved her the trouble of having to cook once she got home. That was a huge relief for her. Awana’s cooking skills had always been minimal at best.
As soon as she reached home, Awana kicked off her shoes, undressed, showered, pulled on her nightgown and flopped on to her bed. She fell asleep almost as soon as her head touched the pillow. She dreamt of Ian. They were walking on the beach together holding hands. They stopped to admire the sunset. Awana felt like the luckiest woman in the world. She felt relaxed. His touch felt so soothing. She looked down at his hand. Just then he released her hand. Ian began walking away just like that, Awana was distraught. What had gone wrong so suddenly? She ran after Ian calling out his name. She managed to catch up to him, Awana grabbed his hand. Ian turned around but he wasn’t Ian anymore. It was Amaan sneering at her. Awana froze and tried to break free but his grip on her hand was too tight. She yelled. The sound of her own voice jolted her out of her sleep. Awana turned on the light and checked the time. It was only three in the morning. She looked at her palms, she was sweating. She could not sleep for the rest of the night. Was she being stalked or was she going crazy….
